A Review Of Stick Man At The Leeds Playhouse

What a pleasure it was to attend the press present of Leeds Play House and Freckle Productions’ splendidly whimsical adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s Stick Man with my 4 12 months previous daughter, Florence, who was completely enraptured all through the 1 hour manufacturing, instantly asking once we would see it once more as quickly because it had completed!

…What begins off as a morning jog for Stick Man turns into fairly the misadventure-: a canine desires to play fetch with him, a swan builds a nest with him, and he even finally ends up on a hearth! How will Stick Man ever get again to the household tree?

This award-winning manufacturing, from the group behind Zog and Zog and the Flying Medical doctors, encompasses a trio of exceptionally gifted actors and is packed stuffed with puppetry, songs, stay music and humorous strikes by its good, multi gifted ensemble.

Florence not solely relished the narration she recognised but additionally the brand new, unique songs she didn’t. The usage of umbrellas to mirror sea waves and later a snow storm was genius and the magic of Stick Man was dropped at life within the manufacturing design and costume as a lot because the performances!

‘I liked the woman who was a canine, the best way she making an attempt to chase Stick Man was humorous’ she stated. She additionally lapped up the interactive aspect within the play the place the viewers have been invited to catch a ball. ‘We’ll catch it subsequent time’ she reassured me after we missed it twice.

You mustn’t miss this manufacturing, although people, it’s a particular one! Leeds can be wanting vibrantly festive too and price making it a day go to!
